End of Year Gift Your Students Will Love
It’s the end of the school year and teachers love to give their students an end of the year gift. I teach first grade and always look forward to giving my students something useful and memorable. If you’re anything like me, then you try to avoid giving your already hyper elementary students more candy. Of course, kids love candy, but I don’t love the repercussions of giving them candy! Don’t even get me started on how much sugar our school breakfast provides them with first thing each day.
That’s what motivated me to make end of the year gift tags so I could put something in the bag that wasn’t candy but rather useful. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against candy. I just prefer a gift my students will remember and won’t make them more hyper.
My students loved this gift last year
The thing I love about a gift tag and bag gift is you can change out the items inside each year. I chose donut erasers because I love puns and my students love tiny erasers. If you’re looking for the erasers I used, you can find them here. You can mix and match erasers and even put pencils inside of the bag. I promise, your students will love the gesture and you won’t have to break the bank putting this end of the year student gift together.
Incorporate something your students love into the end of the year gift
Surely there is something your students think of when they think of their teacher. Maybe you had a fun game you guys played during recess or maybe they know you love your dog (like me!) You can include anything that symbolizes your year together. Tiny erasers are great like I mentioned because they come in all sizes and designs but there’s plenty of ideas out there that are easily customizable to your unique classroom and students.
It’s always hard saying goodbye to your students at the end of the year. I, myself, have shed a few tears of sadness and happiness at the end of every school year.
