Teacher Gift Guide for the Holidays
This teacher gift guide is for the teacher who is working in person or online. Maybe you even want to start your own tutoring business!
If so, this is the right gift guide for you!
I’ve included tech tools that I use in my own classroom and tutoring business that I believe to be game changers when it comes to teaching.
I also talked to fellow teachers and found out some classroom items that would always be welcomed if received!
It’s no joke that teachers get mugs and cups each year. While we do love a good mug, if you’ve been teaching for more than a year, you have enough of those for a lifetime.
If you’re a parent reading this and looking for the perfect gift for your child’s teacher, I’m sure there’s something for everyone on this gift list.
Set them up for success with these amazing tech gifts
One of the things I encourage all teachers and tutors to use is a document camera. This is pricey, but I promise you it’s worth every penny! I utilize my document camera every day in my first grade classroom and my online tutoring business. Some ways I use the document camera are to share a read aloud, show handwriting, do math problems and so much more! The possibilities are endless with this amazing tech tool! .
I’ve also been loving my laptop stand. Not only does it help eliminate “nerd neck” but it’s keeping my head looking straight ahead instead of down. Back and neck issues are a legitimate concern when staring at a screen all day. If you haven’t gotten a stand yet for your laptop, this one is a game changer! It’s a great price too.
All teachers have spent their entire lunch break waiting for the laminator to turn on. Buying my own thermal laminator has been one of the best teaching purchases I’ve ever made! I use it all the time for my tutoring business as well! The laminating pouches make my tutoring resources extra sturdy. Curious how resources look once laminated? You can watch a video of one here.
Do your students love science as much as mine do? Teaching science online can have it’s challenges. A digital microscope is the perfect addition to the classroom (no matter how you’re teaching or tutoring this year). It connects through a USB port which makes projecting on your Zoom screen easy. You can do so many cool things with the digital microscope. One idea is using the microscope to play “What’s Under the Lense.” You can have kids guess what is being magnified. It’s a fun way to challenge them.
The last teacher tech gift I use on a daily basis is a ring light. A ring light is a cheap way to brighten up your online classroom. I use my ring light when I teach, tutor and film videos.
Budget friendly gifts under $25
Some other teacher gift ideas include the always popular AstroBrights paper and Flare Pens. All teachers love colorful paper and fun pens. Our schools don’t supply us with them, so we buy it out of pocket. It’s amazing what a pop of color can do for our moods.
Erin Condren is a teacher staple. While it’s difficult to buy a planner for a teacher (because they’re so personal) you can give the gift of a Erin Condren notebook and pencil pouch. Trust me, you can’t go wrong with these two gifts. If you’re really paying attention, you can match these items to the person’s planner. 😉
Last but not least, a Starbucks gift card makes a great gift for any teacher. Instead of a new mug, fill their cup with a gift card.
